Hello everyone! Today I am bringing you a review and some swatches of six of the NYX Roll On Shimmers~ These were some of the products I purchased in my most recent haul and I decided to do a separate post on these since I haven't seen too much talk about these products.
There are a total of 16 different colors ranging from neutrals to colorful shimmers. I picked 6 of them, but I do plan on purchasing the rest eventually and also depotting them into separate jars, which I'll talk about a little later in this post.
From left to right, I purchased the colors Nude, Platinum, Almond, Sea Foam, Walnut, and Onyx. I did get mostly neutrals because they'd be easier for me to use on a daily basis (if I want that pop of shimmer), but I will get the other colors which are some pinks, purples, and more blues.
Below are some swatches, also in the same order as above~
On the top I swatched the colors without any primer or base underneath them. Even without a base, these colors are VERY shimmery and sparkly, but just don't have a lot of color underneath them.
On the bottom I swatched the shimmers in the same order, but with the NYX eye shadow base in white underneath them. It definitely made the true color pop much more and made them more vibrant, as well as changing the color up a bit. Nude and Almond were huge changes to me as far as the shade of color.
Here is another view of the shimmers on top of the white base to show how AMAZINGLY glittery and sparkly and eye catching these shimmers are.
I also decided to swatch the shimmers on top of the NYX eye shadow base in black to show a different option. This changes a few of the colors a lot, such as Platinum, and would be perfect for shimmery, smokey looks.
Overall, I am in love with this product. The color payoff is fantastic and didn't show a lot of fall out (mostly some little bits of glitter, but doing the eyes first and the face last or shields/tissue would fix that problem). The color range is pretty fantastic, especially all the brown shades.
The only thing that drives me crazy is the idea of it being a "roll on." Sure, it'd be a good idea if it was just a body shimmer, but to me it would be way too clumsy and awkward to apply it to the eyelid with the roller. Especially since I would love to pop some of these colors in the inner corner and on my lower eyelid. I definitely plan on making a trip to Michael's to purchase some jars and de-pot these to be able to dip my brush in these shimmers much easier.
I am just surprised that I have never seen any people on Instagram or YouTube talk about these since they're amazingly cheap at $3.99 each (and Ulta loves doing buy 1 get 1 50% off for NYX products).
Have any of you tried these shimmers? Did you love them like I do?
Thank you for reading~
